a positive impact

Talbot Mentor volunteers empower youth in our community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential. Talbot Mentors provides the platform on which to establish real, meaningful, long-lasting bonds between caring adults and young people. Our volunteers commit to supporting, guiding, and being a friend to a young person.

Why Does Mentoring Matter?

Mentoring, at its core, guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to- day challenges, and makes them feel like they matter. Extensive research shows that quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on young people by improving their behavioral, social, emotional and academic outcomes simultaneously.

Young people who are mentored are:

- 55% more likely to enroll in college or university

- 78% more likely to become a volunteer

- 81% more likely to do extra curricular activities
